The ‘On the Way’ process is a Diocese-wide one, designed to support churches and deaneries to engage creatively and courageously with the future that God is calling us into and the inevitable change that will come as a result of this. (This short video from Bishop Philip explains this well:) https://trurodiocese.org.uk/about-us/on-the-way/
As Bishop Philip says, the question before us is no longer ‘do we want to change’ but, ‘how will we engage with it?’
Two words are crucial to On the Way: fruitful and sustainable, a future which is most likely to be discerned by local churches, working together in deaneries, seeking the Spirit and looking to join in.
It is also an invitation to meet together for prayer, listening, dreaming and discussion as we discern together the future that God is calling us towards.
As part of this, 6 ‘Focus Groups’ will be set-up to consider in more detail how we might respond to this, based around the themes of:
- –Discipleship (including new faith & growing faith)
- –Schools, Children and Families
- –Young adults, students & young adults
- –Creation Care
- –The Poor and Marginalised (co-ordinated by Amanda)
- –Life-giving leadership / diversity of callings
If you would like to know more or think you are called to take part in one of these Groups, please speak to Rev’d Amanda and come along on Saturday 13th to Penmorvah.
The day will be shaped as follows:
9.30am Arrival and coffee
9.45am Worship and Bible Study
10.15am Prayerful discussion Groups
11.45am Prayerful discussion Groups (continued)
1.45pm Sharing our ideas and praying together
Please do consider attending, if you can. So that the catering can be arranged, you are asked to inform Rev’d Amanda by Monday 8th November. We can then ensure that all the details can be made available for you.
