The parish of St Gluvias celebrated a landmark birthday, 700 years of providing a place for worship for the people of Penryn and surrounding areas.

To mark the occasion a special celebration mass was presided over by the Bishop of St. Germans and the Bishop of Ebbsfleet, on Sunday 22 July 2018, which saw people attend from all over the deanery.

Following mass a special celebration birthday cake, baked by Mrs June Goodman, was cut and refreshments were enjoyed by all.

To mark the actual day of Dedication, Wednesday 25 July, the church held a ‘Said Mass’ at the Sacrament Altar in the north aisle of the church, which is above some of the original foundations. A peel of bells rang out to mark the occasion and in the evening a concert was performed by The Four Tunes Saxophone Quartet.
